Using Twitter for public health surveillance of dental pain

In a new study, researchers have demonstrated that Twitter users are extensively sharing their experiences of toothache and seeking advice from other users. The microblogging service Twitter is a new means for the public to communicate health concerns and could afford health care professionals new ways to communicate with patients, the study’s authors say.

Air Force dental technician saves a few smiles in Vietnam during Pacific Angel 2010

Senior Airman Yinell Rosario, a dental technician from Yokota Air Base, Japan, talks about her experiences with Pacific Angel 2010, currently underway in Vietnam through May 15, 2010. Operation Pacific Angel is a joint and combined humanitarian assistance operation conducted in the Pacific area of responsibility to support US Pacific Command’s capacity-building efforts More than 50 US military are in Vietnam for the operation and have joined the Vietnamese military, non-governmental organizations and civil health and engineering personnel in medical and engineering efforts. The medical team will provide family practice, dental, optometry, pediatrics and women’s health care to Can Tho area residents.
